First opened in 1895 in rented downtown Syracuse office space, the College of Law started with an entering class comprised of just 23 students. Yet, by 1921, the number of those enrolled spurred up to more than 200 students. Thus, the College of Law changed its location to John Crouse Mansion near the Syracuse University campus.

Presently, with recruitment numbers greater than 650 men and women from 28 states and 15 countries, the College of Law offers students a thrilling and rigorous academic voyage that delivers the right analytical skills, knowledge and discipline needed to thrive in the field of law and its related branches. In this way, we are shaping up the future generation of leaders that will meet the demands and boost the possibilities of the complex global society in which we live.

The faculty features devoted teachers, distinguished scholars and skilled lawyers. The majority of them practiced law before starting their academic professions and some continue to practice it in their specific areas of interest. All faculty members are involved in research and publish their work in order to contribute to the theory and practice of law, blending practice with theory. Furthermore, several professors own other graduate degrees and teach courses that blend law with other branches such as public administration, health care, finance or psychology.

Through the years, the College of Law has graduated numerous impacting and successful lawyers, financial and business leaders. We proud ourselves on counting among our alumni, members of the U.S. Senate and the U.S. Congress, state attorneys general, federal and state judges. What’s more, numerous members of our alumni head some of the world’s greatest law firms as well as firms in the fields of finance, real estate and international business affairs.
